How do you spell relief... G O N E
So the other day my mother said she found her new favorite song,
It is from Paramore "Ain't so fun"
She was laughing as she sang...
'Don't go crying to your mama 'cause you're on your own in the real world'
This made me re-think living in my parents basement... But luckfuly (yes that is a word, as of right now) I was fortuitous enough to land on my feet with an amazing wife. Although I at times aggravate her, she still has not kicked me out.
Recently my brother and his wife just moved from out of state and stayed with my parents in their basement while they were searching for an apartment. When I spoke to my brother he was very excited when the found a place of their own.
This all reminds me a friend who's family (2 parents and 5 kids) went to visit their grandma. After a nice long stay they packed up and left. But having forgot something in the home the dad went back in to the house to pick it up. He over heard his mom saying to her friend on the phone, "do you know how you spell relief, G O N E, gone." While this may not have been funny then, my friend and I look back on this and laugh.
Sometimes it is great coming, and others it is great getting gone. But I think the trick is to always be enjoying the journey.
